Winter time

Brrr. Winter time. Wintertime.

How is it that Mother Nature knows to make it cold as soon as we go off summer time?

Saturday was wet in Melbourne (much-needed rain), but at least it wasn’t cold. Sunday… dry but cool and windy. The moment the sun went down, cold. I felt the need to wear thick socks while sitting watching telly last night, seriously considered putting on the winter flannel PJs for bed, and this morning there’s a real chill in the air.

If you believe the meteorologists, it’ll get up to 24 degrees, but right now it’s only 9. I haven’t felt the need to wear a jacket to work so far this year. I’m heading out the door in about 40 minutes… if it hasn’t warmed up a tad in the mean time, today I’ll certainly take one… and I’ll think twice about grabbing a scarf, too.

No! It’s not cold. It’s cool, perhaps – but it’s Autumn, and Autumn is Melbourne’s best season. Balmy days and cool nights – today was glorious, as was yesterday – and the cooler nights make sleep much easier (I think). But perhaps you’re one of those who feel the cold more…

I’m in Hokkaido in Japan and your temperatures sound heavenly warm!

I’m heading to NZ in a few days and I am so looking forward to some balmy days – well relative to here anyways!

I know here up in Bathurst, Autumn turned up all of a sudden on Sunday… cool, wet and overcast with a high of 19c! I guess summers’ left us without really saying goodbye?

We’ve had the cool change too here in Alice Springs and all I can say is….arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrghhhhh noice!!! After constant 35+ heat (apart from 3 days in January) since early October it’s just more than wonderful.
