Sun 19 September 2004 - Here is my coffee mug

Here is my coffee mug at work. Theoretically it’s a coffee mug, but I don’t drink coffee.

Post a picture of your mug! Link in the Trackbacks or comments.

Sun 12 September 2004 - Here is my station

On this day 150 years ago, at 12:20pm, Australia’s first train service departed Flinders Street Station bound for Port Melbourne.

With that in mind, here is my local railway station.

Station

This picture was taken on Friday morning. I actually use various stations around here depending on precisely where I’m going that day, but this is the closest one to my house. The railway line here opened in 1879, and was electrified in 1922.

To commemorate this anniversary, there were steam train rides between Caulfield and Sunshine today. At $2 a pop, it was standing room only, but everyone seemed to have a good time.

PS. Museum of Victoria has a great 150 years of railways web site.

Sun 5 September 2004 - Here is my bike

With thanks to Trish for the idea, here is my bike. I bought it about a year and a half ago. I don’t ride it as much as I’d like to, but with the price of petrol going through the roof, maybe it’s time to start using it more.

My bike, with me on it

I took this by using the camera on a tripod with the self-timer set to ten seconds. I did half-a-dozen “click camera, run to bike, put up stand, jump on, wait for frenetic beeping from camera, then ride in front of it” pictures. The first one taken turned out to be the best.

Sun 29 August 2004 - Here are my bins

Welcome back to the next installment in my celebration of the mundane.

Here are my bins, all three of them, posed together. (They normally only sit together on the kerb on garbage day, which is Friday morning in my neck-of-the-woods.)

My bins

As usual, hold your mouse over stuff in the picture to read about them. (Firefox users will have to right-click, choose Properties, then scroll through the title text.)

Sun 22 August 2004 - Here is my shed

Well it’s really a garage, but it’s all the way at the end of the driveway and looks like a tight squeeze, so I’ve never actually used it for the car. Pah, it hasn’t rusted yet. Well, that I know of.

Inside of shed

As usual, hold your mouse over stuff in the picture to read about them. (Alas Firefox only shows the first few words — apparently it’s on their bugfix list, but don’t hold your breath. Meanwhile right-click, Properties, then scroll through the title.)

Sun 8 August 2004 - Here is the inside of my car

Here’s the inside of my car, not quite from the driver’s position.

As usual, hold your mouse over stuff in the picture to read about them. (Anybody know why Firefox only shows the first few words — and can this be fixed?!)

Sun 1 August 2004 - Here is my dresser

Well, after the flop of last week’s “Here is my” photo, something a little more socially acceptable (and convenient to snap). The dresser.

Ah, the joys of faux-pioneer-style furniture. I’d love to claim it’s not usually this untidy, but it would be a big fat lie.

Mon 26 July 2004 - Here is my toilet (at work)

Here is the toilet at work. It’s quite stylish actually. Although work is on a public floor of the building, the toilets are locked, secured by carefully guarded keys. Which is a pain sometimes, to be honest — no secrets from your colleagues when you waltz out the door with the key in your hand.

Hold your mouse over it to see some points of interest (?!?).
