Sign of the times

Spot the difference between these two signs warning of window washers at work above the footpaths in the city…

Exhibit A, Manchester Lane:
Men Working Overhead, Manchester Lane

Exhibit B, Collins Street:
Workers Above, Collins Street

The second crew actually did have a woman in their number.

I wonder if eventually all companies will phase out the former version in favour of the latter.

I once saw a copy of a council menu from Lamberth a London Borough noted for very left wing policies and political correctness in the 1980s, which advertised “Ploughperson’s Lunch”!

So does that mean that if “Men At Work” formed as a band in 2009 instead of (checks wikipedia…)1978/79 they would be called “Workers at Work” or “Employees at Workstations”?
