Wed 13 December 2006 - Don’t do it

I’m not going to name names, but it seems this needs spelling out.

Ladies, DO NOT pull a gentleman’s tie. It’s not funny. It’s just annoying.

A tie is a highly-tuned precision garment. Sometimes it’s a great deal of effort to get it looking just right. Sometimes it’s even a great deal of effort to get it looking even half-decent. You mess with it and it’ll be uncomfortable and look awkward until it’s pulled off and completely re-tied.

So please don’t.

    Oh, did you say “tie”?

  2. Philip Says:

Easy. They pull your tie, you tousle their hair.

  3. Louise Says:

Hah, I was about to add - Don’t mess with our hair! It takes us a lot longer to get our tresses looking just right than it does for you to tie a stupid noose.

  4. Ren Says:

    Stupid noose. Loving it.

The tie pull is only good in one particular activity anyway. All other times it’s just a tease. And yes, I am talking about actual TIES.

Gee, wouldn’t have thought you’d have to put up with such things as pulling ties after leaving school - primary school at that!…. in light of the tie, in some schools of thought, considered a phallic symbol the tie puller is really trying to get men’s attention. Verbal skills not up to scratch or just very playful/confident? Don’t resort to the elastic ones tho’ :)

  6. Tim Chmielewski Says:

I just have one on a piece of elastic so it’s not that much trouble.

  7. Konrad Says:

I can remember the last time someone pulled my tie. It was in the locker room below the school assemby hall (which is exactly the sort of place things like that should happen).
