Wed 7 December 2005 - Two of everything

Now that I’ve got a dishwasher, I’ve been making sure I have two of everything. Unless you’re a water-wasting Wally enviro-bastard, the cardinal rule of the dishwasher is only to run it when it’s full, so I’ve bought some extra cutlery so that in a typical week, I can run it every second day.

I’ve also solved a little mystery, that of the dishwasher stopping midway through the cycle and complaining that something, somewhere, is in a condition of “U1″.

I should have followed Marita and Andrew’s advice from the start and spurned the Morning Fresh brand dishwashing tablets. I’ve used their dishwashing liquid for years, so it seemed logical at the time. But now I’ve tried Finish. And by golly where MF caused the machine to give-up halfway through, with Finish it… uhhh… finishes.

May the Gods of consumer appliances be praised.

*whimper* I need a dishwasher. I need my own house first, if I’m to be practical, but I WANT a dishwasher.

  2. Rayne Says:

I bought a small table model dishwasher.
That way I don’t run out of cutlery and crockery and a don’t have to open it and face dirty dishes.

  3. Somebody in the WWW Says:

Am I the only one here who doesn’t have a dishwasher?

There is room underneth my kitchen bench for one. But I don’t need or want one.

  4. Andrew Says:

I don’t think there is anything wrong with Morning Fresh. MF is not particularly cheap. It is more likely tablets. Tried them once and I can’t remember what the problem was, be we never bought them again. They are more expensive too. If things aren’t too dirty or greasy, you can use less powder.

I just use Coles generic brand, and it cleans just as good and my first dishwasher lasted 12 years.

I think Finish does the best job… and as Andrew said - it’s good to be able to put in less or more as the load requires…
