My house was built around about 1930-ish. Some period features that I particularly like:
Most of the doorknobs are of an Art Deco style that reminds me of something out of Jeeves and Wooster every time I open a door.
Most of the rooms have decorated deco ceilings. Thankfully the more recent insertion of heating ducts in a few spots hasn’t spoilt them too much.
The livingroom has two little decorated windows for letting in light.
The main bedroom has one of these facing almost due east, which is causing me some problems with beams of light bursting through at dawn, awakening me from my slumber. It’s like the ray of light in the Shrine of Remembrance at 11am on November 11th.
(Not period, as it’s in a part of the house extended more recently) The laundry and back toilet share a light.
This has the added advantage of being an indicator that somebody’s in there.
